Since February of 1998, Beijing Institute of Education has got the permission to

have received and are receiving their Chinese language education here in BIE.
The Faculty of International Language and Culture of Beijing Institute of Education
was established in 2007, part of the functions of which are Chinese language teaching,
researching and students management. The main courses for overseas students here
is on Chinese language learning, along with variety of cultural courses and cultural
tour programs. The programs we provide are:
●Chinese Language Learning Program (long-term Chinese learning program and short-term
intensive Chinese learning program)
●One to one teaching and learning
●Business Chinese
●Chinese Teacher training program
●Summer(winter) Chinese Camp and China Tour and Learning Program
With variety of Chinese language training programs, professional and experienced
teachers, rich experiences in managing with overseas students, excellent teaching
and living facilities and convenient transportation, the Faculty of International
Language and Culture of Beijing Institute of Education is your first choice to learn
Chinese. Our teaching emphasizes a lot on the practical using of the language. The
teaching patterns include classroom teaching, Chinese cultural tour and different
sorts of Chinese cultural courses, which helps students know more about Chinese
culture and Chinese society.
1. Chinese Language Learning
Program (long-term and short-term)
1) Long-term Chinese language
learning program (more than half a year):
Levels:for students at different
levels, we have elementary, intermediate and advanced teaching programs.
Course Setting:
(1)The main language courses include:
Elementary level: Integrative Chinese, Listening, Oral Chinese, Dialogue, Chinese
Characters, and Pronunciation.
Intermediate level: Integrative Chinese, Dialogue, Pronunciation, Writing, and Newspaper
Reading.
Advanced: Integrative Chinese, Dialogue, Pronunciation, Writing, Chinese Grammar
and Newspaper Reading.
(2) Optional courses are: Pronunciation Correction, HSK Tutoring, Language
Practice, Chinese Movies, Chinese Input Methods, Business Chinese, News Listening,
Chinese Literature, Chinese Culture, Chinese History and Chinese Economy.
(3) Cultural courses: Peking Opera, Chinese Traditional Musical Instrument, Chinese
Painting, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Intertexture, Chinese Kungfu, Taiji, Calisthenics,
Chinese Songs, and Chinese Traditional Dancing.
Teaching Hours: 18 weeks a term and 20 hours for each week.
Feathers:
(1) Small group teaching: all the Chinese classes are small group-class with the
students number of no more than 10, which means all the students in the class have
more opportunity to practice Chinese and participate in classroom activities.
(2) One to One Teaching and Learning: to better improve students’ Chinese level,
One to One Teaching and Learning is provided to all student. One student could communicate
with one teacher alone to practice his or her language. It is one hour a week for
each student.
(3)Visits and language practice: 3 to 4 visits and some language practices would
be organized, which includes visiting some historical interests and scenic spots
(the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Lama Temple, the Guo
Zi Jian and so on), school visiting, communication with Chinese university students,
language practice in shopping, asking way and visiting Chinese families. These activities
could enrich students’ life in
China
, help students know more about Chinese culture and society; practice Chinese in
real communication with native Chinese.
2)
Short-term Chinese language learning program
Teaching objectives: The core of training of this sort is on the ability for practical
communicative skills. Through short-term intensive language training, students would
be highly improved in their language competence, especially listening and speaking.
During afternoons and weekends, students would be organized to take visits and cultural
activities. The characteristics of the training are SHORT-TERM and INTENSIVE. Everything
would make changes to follow the demands of students if it is reasonable.
Teaching hours: 20 hours a week. The term is 2-12 weeks. For groups, we will discuss
about the details.

2. One to One Teaching
and Learning
It is very flexible, and there will be a teacher there ready for your alone. You
are welcome at anytime in a year.
3. Business Chinese
It is for the overseas students or groups willing to have business exchange in
China
. The class provides you with Chinese vocabulary, sentences in business, and practices
you in communications on business. The courses include integrative Chinese, Oral
Chinese in Business, Business Writing, General Chinese Economy and Trade and Chinese
company visits.
4. Chinese Teacher Training
Program
This program is specially for in-service Chinese language teachers in other countries
and Chinese citizens willing to be Chinese teachers to teach students of other language.
For in-service Chinese language teachers in other countries, we have training programs
for 2-12 weeks, which is mainly on intensive language training and Chinese language
teaching skills accompanied with teaching practice and cultural visit. For Chinese
citizens willing to be Chinese teachers for students of other language, we have
systematic curriculum on Chinese language and literature, and Chinese language teaching
skills, which makes you possible to get the qualification of teaching Chinese to
students of other language.
5. Summer (winter) Chinese
Camp and
China
Tour and Learning Program
It is specially for the university, secondary and primary school students to learn
Chinese language, and to know more about Chinese society and culture during summer
(winter) vocations. Other cities in
China
would also be on our visit list if it is wanted.
The main activities include the visits to the Great Wall, the
